This vital crossing serves thousands of travelers, commuters, and commercial vehicles every day, fostering economic and cultural ties between both nations.
The bridge was built in 1928 as the Roma Suspension Bridge — a landmark of engineering and cross-border connection. It was taken out of service in 1979 when a new concrete bridge was constructed to accommodate growing cross-border traffic. Today, the bridge operates under the authority of Starr County, Texas, and remains open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
